1. Information We Do Not Collect

We believe private academic and professional writing should stay strictly on your local machine. When using Word to LaTeX (Offline):

No Document Data Collection: Any .docx file selected, or formatted text/table pasted into the popup, is parsed and converted entirely inside your browser's WebAssembly sandbox. Document contents are never sent to any server, cloud provider, or third party.
No Personal Identifiers: We do not ask for or collect names, email addresses, IP addresses, browsing history, device identifiers, or user telemetry.
No Cookies or Tracking: The extension does not set cookies, tracking pixels, or fingerprinting scripts.

2. How Local Processing Works

All conversions are executed using a locally bundled build of Pandoc WebAssembly (pandoc-wasm) packaged directly inside the extension:

WebAssembly binaries and assets run inside your local browser instance under Microsoft Edge's Content Security Policy.
No remote scripts or external code endpoints are loaded.
Once the extension is installed, it functions identically even when your device is completely disconnected from the Internet.

3. Browser Permissions & Data Storage

Word to LaTeX (Offline) requests the absolute minimum permissions required to perform its single purpose:

No Host Permissions: The extension has no permission to read or modify your browsing history or the websites you visit.
Clipboard Access: When you click convert, the extension writes the resulting LaTeX fragment to your system clipboard via navigator.clipboard.writeText as a direct convenience on user interaction. Reading clipboard data during paste is performed through standard DOM paste events within the popup container; no programmatic background clipboard reading permissions are used.
Data Storage: The extension stores no persistent data in chrome.storage, localStorage, or IndexedDB. All inputs and outputs exist only in ephemeral browser memory while the extension popup window is open, and are automatically cleared when the popup is closed.

4. Third-Party Services

The extension incorporates no third-party APIs, analytics platforms (such as Google Analytics or Mixpanel), advertising networks, or external CDN dependencies.

5. Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy is updated, any revised version will be published here with an updated revision date. Given the extension's offline architectural design, our strict no-collection guarantee will not change.
